RNC have a suspect identified, but no arrests have yet been made in connection with reports of gunshots in the downtown on Friday.
The Constabulary today requested further information or video footage from a specific area of the downtown following two separate incidents that police believe were targeted.
Police were first called to the area of Casey Street around 10:40 a.m. to reports of a single gunshot. No injuries were reported.
Around 12:20 that afternoon, police received a report of shots fired in the area of Livingstone Street at Carter’s Hill. Patrol officers who arrived at the scene were able to determine that multiple shots had been fired. No injuries were reported.
RNC Constable James Cadigan says they are looking for more information that could lead to an arrest.
“There is a suspect,” says Cadigan, and although no arrests have yet been made “it is an active investigation.”
RNC are seeking any information, including video footage between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday between Springdale Street, Lemarchant Road, Long’s Hill and New Gower Street.
Meanwhile, Cadigan says RNC have no reason to believe that the shots fired in the downtown on Friday are connected to a shooting incident on Blackmarsh Road near Jensen Camp Road in the city’s west end Sunday night involving two vehicles.
“We have no reason to link” the two incidents “at this stage” says Cadigan. So for the time being, the incidents are being investigated separately.
Anyone with information is asked to contact RNC or Crime Stoppers.
