A nature-based community organization in central Newfoundland is heartbroken after somebody stole most of their tools—about $3,000 or $4,000 worth, forcing them to reduce programming and construction—at least for the short term.
The Corduroy Brook Nature Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor offers educational and family events geared to bringing children closer to nature. They also have numerous throughout the year.
Tiffany Lane, program coordinator, says they stored their tools off-site, at a unit on Main Street.
They are assessing the situation but may have to alter course with a planned expansion and enhancement of their facility.
She says they had been planning on it for the past couple of months and were going to start work on it next week but now they don’t have the tools to do the work.
