Passenger numbers in and out of St. John’s International in 2023 exceeded projections as travel continues to rebound in the post-pandemic era.
1.26 million passengers filed through YYT in 2023—an increase of over 17 per cent from the year prior.
Chief Financial Officer Laura Gough provided an update on the airport’s fiscal situation during their AGM yesterday.
Gough says passenger levels more than exceeded their projected 6.6 per cent increase. More foot traffic meant more spending at airport concessions and parking lots, which played a key role in YYT’s revenue climbing to $53.5 million from $45.8 million reported in 2022.
Along with several new routes added to the airport in the past year, there will also be a new dining option as O’Reilly’s Pub will open a location in the coming weeks.
