Use of headphones and earbuds for both work and leisure is a common sight nowadays, but a registered hearing aid technologist is warning about the risks of cranking the volume too much.
Kimberly King of Beltone says just because you’re not having any hearing problems now, doesn’t mean you won’t develop them in the future.
King says hearing loss usually creeps up after years of exposing yourself to a loud environment. Not only are headphones an issue, but playing music on bust in the car is also putting your hearing at risk and will likely impact your hearing somewhere down the line.
May is Better Hearing Month and King recommends getting a hearing check-up on a regular basis, the same one would do for their vision.
