A collision on the Trans Canada near Bishop’s Falls Friday evening claimed the life of a 41-year-old woman.

RCMP say the collision occurred just before 7:00 p.m. when a Dodge Ram pickup left the eastbound lane and collided with a westbound tractor trailer.

The passenger of the pickup was taken to hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured but was taken to hospital for assessment.

The investigation continues.

One person is dead as a result of a collision in central Newfoundland Friday evening.

The collision forced the temporary closure of a portion of the TCH between the Bishop’s Falls exits.

RCMP are investigating the cause and expect to release more information later today.
