A man from Benoit’s Cove has been charged with drug trafficking on the west coast of the island.
RCMP-RNC Joint Forces Operation West came upon two parked vehicles in the lookout area of the Lewin Parkway last Thursday.
Police recognized the occupants as being involved in illicit drug activities.
They allege that 36-year-old Matthew Batt was in possession of cocaine, a quantity of cash, and other items consistent with drug trafficking.
Batt has been released from custody and will appear in court at a later date to answer to a charge of trafficking in cocaine.
Three other people were released from custody without any charges.
The investigation continues.
