Tourists will be piling into Gander this summer to take in a rendition of the musical Come From Away, and one local comedian is hoping to bring them in for a laugh too.

John Sheehan’s Come for a Laugh Tour will run every Friday and Saturday throughout July and August, aligning with showings of Come From Away.

He calls it a bit of a risk, as stand-up comedy tends to draw in fewer people during the summer months, but he’s hoping to bring in locals and visitors to a slew of shows at the Quality Inn.

“I thought, if I had the right hook and advertising, then maybe we could get the tourists who are coming to see shows anyway, come and see our show,” says Sheehan. “So I called it Come for a Laugh.”
