Enjoying summer fun can be hard to resist, but a financial advisor is warning of the hefty impact it can have on the pocketbook.

BDO Debt Solutions’ Senior VP, Mike Braga says people tend to get a bit more reckless with spending in the summer months because they’re eager to get out and enjoy the nice weather.

He says it’s okay to enjoy the summer, but it has to be done responsibly.

Braga recommends doing up a budget before heading out on a family vacation.

He says it’s a good idea to look at the big picture and see where you can cutback on spending, any additional savings can then go towards summer fun.
