Police in Corner Brook have confirmed the death of a woman after a small plane crashed near the west coast city yesterday.
They say the first reports were received shortly after 2 p.m. about the crash, which occurred in rough terrain on the southern shore of the Bay of Islands in the Blow Me Down Mountains.
The Cessna plane was contracted from Quebec by DFO, and Minister Diane Lebouthillier shared her thoughts on social media.

The provincial Emergency Services division, along with a Cormorant helicopter, Canadian Helicopters, the RNC and NL Health Services all responded to the scene, helping get the injured to hospital.
Police say all four aboard the plane were from Quebec and working in the area at the time of the crash.
They say a 24-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 26-year-old man was rushed to hospital in critical condition. Two other women, aged 28 and 23, are being treated for less serious injuries.
In an email to VOCM, the TSB said investigators are on their way to the area to gather information and try to determine the cause of the crash.
