Redevelopment work is set to begin at the hospital in Grand Falls-Windsor to upgrade obstetrics at the facility.

The project will see the obstetrics unit moved to the same floor as the operating room to help improve patient safety and reduce response times in cases when surgical intervention is needed.

Other changes will include private birthing rooms.

The redevelopment work will begin soon with the $6.3 million contract awarded to Brooks Construction.
