An aggravated assault charge laid against a 17-year old following the assault of a woman in St. John’s earlier this month has been upgraded to attempted murder.
The RNC were called to a Curling Place home around 11:30 on Wednesday, November 6th, where they found a woman with serious injuries.
The teen and the woman were known to one another.
The young person believed responsible left the scene before police arrived but was located and arrested several hours later.
The charges laid at that time included aggravated assault, uttering threats and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose in addition to various breaches.
The aggravated assault charge has now been upgraded to attempted murder.
The identity of the accused is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
