Several weather monitoring stations in eastern and southern Newfoundland broke records in November, making it one of the soggiest months ever.
St. John’s waded through 322.2 mm of rain in November, breaking the old mark of 319.8 in 1955. The capital tied for the second-most consecutive days of the month with some rainfall at 20.
Four other centres established new soggy marks as well.
Bonavista got 317.5 mm of rain, the highest monthly total for all months of the year in Bonavista.
The old record in Gander for November, 179.2 in 2004, was surpassed this year with total rainfall of 222.3 mm.
Terra Nova Park was dumped on with 235.5 mm, making it the rainiest month ever of any of the 12 on the calendar. The old mark was 233.4.
The Marystown area got 267.9 mm, smashing the 1970 November record by about 30 mm.
