People taking in the hockey action at the Jack Byrne Arena in Torbay tonight are being encouraged to bring along a toy for the Avalon Mall/VOCM Happy Tree.
The Southern Shore Breakers are taking on the hometown Outer Cove Marines at 7:45 p.m.
Marines assistant coach James Cadigan says the club saw this as a great opportunity to give back.
“VOCM Cares is a great partner in the community,” says Cadigan, “and we’re so proud to be a part of that collaboration.”
He says the community comes together to take in a senior hockey and “you quickly realize this is more than about hockey, certainly at a time like this during the holiday season.”
