Most residents of Newfoundland and Labrador woke up to a blustery, mixed bag of heavy rain, snow and high winds this morning.
The system moved in overnight, hitting all parts of Newfoundland with sideways rain in winds gusting over 100 km/h, while Labrador was getting a good dumping of snow.
The winds are playing havoc with traffic lights, and ripped a section of siding off the Village Shopping Centre in St. John’s, whipping debris around the parking lot.

In Labrador, power has been restored for residents in the Spruce Park area of Happy Valley-Goose Bay after a loader involved in snowclearing took out a light pole earlier this morning.
The west coast and Northern Peninsula are also dealing with a healthy dose of snowfall, making for treacherous driving conditions.
Meteorologist Justin Boudreau says conditions should start to improve by this afternoon.
