A man being escorted into the lockup downtown St. John’s attacked the RNC officer and got away for a short time before being nabbed a second time a short distance away.
They picked up the 19-year-old at about 10:00 last night, charging him with breach of a court order. While inside the lockup, the man assaulted the officer and made a break for it.
He now faces numerous charges.
Law enforcement personnel were not injured.
