Postal workers may be back on the job sooner rather than later, but the message from workers to Ottawa remains the same.
News broke yesterday afternoon that if the Canada Industrial Relations Board determined that an agreement is unlikely by the end of the year, the feds will legislate CUPW back to work.
As that information was first coming to light, the workers were at planned rallies outside of Joanne Thompson and Seamus O’Regan’s constituency offices.
While “disappointed” and “frustrated,” St. John’s local vice president Mike Browne says their message to Ottawa remains the same.
“We still want the federal government to tell Justin Trudeau, to tell Canada Post get back to the table and to negotiate, do it fairly.”
In the meantime, Canada Post says it “looks forward to welcoming employees back to work.”
