‘Tis the season when police step up their patrols to nab people who play the Christmas party circuit. One such roadblock on Portugal Cove Road late last night resulted in about 70 vehicles being stopped.
One person, a 37-year-old woman, tried to evade officers by turning around upon approach. The RNC quickly caught up with her and cited her for blowing a warning on the 7-day suspension scale. They also impounded her vehicle.
In a separate incident, officers stopped a 78-year-old man in metro around 8:00 and cited him for drunk driving. The suspect was released but the vehicle was impounded.
