Mother Nature is set to unleash a mixed bag of precipitation for much of the island tonight and into the weekend.
Environment Canada has issued several watches and warnings across the board with snow, rain, ice, and high winds all in the mix.
Meteorologist Tiffany Cheeks says the Avalon and south coast will see mostly rain. Snow will be added to the equation once you head towards central and the west coast.
She says the west coast and Northern Peninsula could end up with 30 cm once all is said and done. Things are expected to ramp up there on Saturday night with the potential for blowing snow with strong northwesterly gusts.
The system is expected to play havoc on travel during the busy holiday season. Marine Atlantic has issued several advisories for potential cancellations this weekend.
Conditions are expected to improve by Sunday.
