French customs officials in St. Pierre discovered and seized more than a kilogram of cocaine while searching a vehicle that had come over on the ferry from Fortune.
The seizure was made on Monday, according to French news reports.
The driver, a man from St. Pierre, was held in detention pending an ongoing investigation. The Gendarmes have been working with both the RCMP and RNC in addressing drug trafficking to the French islands.
