The provincial government’s new legislation governing short-term rental accommodations is now officially in effect.
Legislative amendments to the Tourist Accommodations Act require all short-term rentals, like Airbnb or VRBO, to be registered with the provincial government.
The amendments were brought in to ensure that all accommodations face the same costs and meet the same standards. They also ensure that rental properties are maintained and meet safety regulations.
The amendments, which received Royal Assent in May, were officially proclaimed into force earlier this month.
