A C.B.S. man with a history of violent criminal activity is on the run from police again.
Matthew Scott, 38, is accused of dangerous driving, driving while prohibited, fleeing from police, and breach of a court order. It’s in connection with an incident on Dec. 19 after officers noticed a suspicious vehicle in the Robert’s Road area of Conception Bay South.
The charges are similar to those faced by Scott over the past few years involving dramatic chases and takedowns.
Scott previously faced dozens of charges involving drugs, guns, driving offences, break-ins, thefts and violent assaults.
Twice in 2022 RCMP were forced to deploy multiple units to track down, corner and arrest Scott following various violent crimes.
One incident involved what police termed a “high-risk takedown” in Marysvale that included officers from Bay Roberts, Harbour Grace and Holyrood, as well as police negotiators, a K-9 unit and emergency response team.
Scott was released on bail but months later again caused mayhem by fleeing from police, who were trying to arrest him for breaching release conditions.
That operation involved RCMP from Holyrood, Ferryland and Traffic Services East, who flattened Scott’s tires with a spike belt and arrested him after a foot chase in Chapel’s Cove.
Scott is also known to police in connection with the 2016 armed robbery of the Sunset Motel in Kelligrews.
Police are urging anyone with knowledge of Scott’s whereabouts to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
