Much of Newfoundland and Labrador is in for some heavy weather late tonight and into Sunday.
No less than four weather alerts have been issued with a pending combination of snow, rain and wind bearing down on the island portion of the province.
The system is expected to start as a snow/rain mix with up to 50 millimetres of rain expected on the Avalon Peninsula while areas to the west will see varying amounts of snow and rain.
Warnings have been issued regarding storm surges and coastal flooding, especially for eastward-facing coastlines on the northeast coast and Avalon Peninsula, from Ferryland to White Bay.
Wind warnings are also in place for Sunday and Monday, with gusts in the range of 80-120 kilometres an hour.
The west coast appears to be getting off the easiest in terms of snowfall with only a few centimetres and not much in the way of rain, while the Northern Peninsula is under a winter storm warning.
Southern Labrador, meanwhile, is in for about 30 centimetres of snow, while the rest of the Big Land continues to experience unusually warm temperature trends into early January.
