A Corner Brook man who is already facing serious charges, has been arrested and charged again after police were notified of a pickup truck driving dangerously on the province’s west coast.
RCMP were called around 3:30 on Friday after the truck reportedly came close to striking a pedestrian. Police were called again with a report that the driver of the truck, baseball bat in hand, had an altercation with another person.
The truck was located by Rocky Harbour RCMP, parked at a commercial property in Trout River. The driver, identified as 59-year-old Lawrence Clarke, was arrested without further incident. A loaded handgun was found in the truck and seized by officers.
RCMP say Clarke was recently charged with a number of criminal offences in both the Clarenville and Lewisporte areas. Those charges include dangerous driving, uttering threats, assaulting a police officer, and resisting arrest.
Clarke is now facing a list of new charges, including unauthorized possession of a firearm and two counts of failing to comply with the condition of a release order.
RCMP say further charges are possible.
