Some of the best to lace up the skates in their day will make their way to the Northern Peninsula in a couple of weeks to play a game against the locals and give the young kids some tips.
The NHL Legends Tour will be in Roddickton-Bide Arm Saturday, Feb. 1st for a game against the senior hockey team from the region.
Councillor Darrell Randell, who chairs the recreation committee, says the former stars were scheduled to be elsewhere in the province but that rendezvous fell through. When he caught wind of it, Co. Randell and the town reached out to the team, put up the necessary resources, and netted the game.
Some of the players are Brian Skrudland, the Rich and Ron Sutter, Chris Nilan and Bernie Nicholls.
Randell says there will be plenty of interaction withy the community.
There will be two intermission sessions where people can go into the dressing room with the players and a meet and greet after the game as well. There will also be autograph signings and other interactions.
