The jury has been selected for a murder trial stemming from a homicide on Roaches Line in 2021.
It happened in a rented cabin at Hillside Cottages on the night of June 22nd. Several workers from a Baffin Fisheries vessel docked in Bay Roberts were staying there at the time.
At around 9 o’clock that night RCMP were called to the cabins after reports of an unresponsive man, who was rushed to hospital in Carbonear but died a short time later.
It’s believed a party at one of the cabins got out of hand, leading to a fight between two men, with one of them, Bernard Otuk, tragically succumbing to his injuries.
Thirty-year-old Patrick Sulurayok was subsequently charged with second-degree murder.

Sulurayok is shown in Supreme Court in August 2021 with co-defence counsel Bob Buckingham. (VOCM News)
Both men are from Nunavut, and interpreters have been brought in to assist the court with Inuktitut translation.
It took the full day in Supreme Court on Monday, but 11 women and three men were chosen to fill out the jury. Two of those, considered alternates, will be dismissed once the case goes to the jury.
The trial is expected to start Tuesday morning with instructions from the judge to the jury.
Meanwhile, the Crown is scrambling to find one of its key witnesses.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Qaluraut Kevin Shaw, who is believed to be in Nunavut, possibly Iqaluit.
He’s considered a material witness in the case.
