RCMP say their investigation into an unusual incident on the Trans Canada this week that had the potential for disaster shows no evidence of intent, or criminality.
Traffic had to veer out of the way as an SUV traveling in the wrong lane, sped along the Trans Canada from Charlottetown in Terra Nova National Park to Port Blandford.
Carolyn Parsons of Lewisporte narrowly avoided a head-on collision with the wrong-way Tucson, and was side-swiped by the vehicle as it continued on.
The SUV’s travel finally came to a halt following a second collision near Port Blandford that rendered the vehicle inoperable.
Fortunately, there were no serious injuries. The RCMP says the driver was examined at hospital and it was determined that they had suffered a medical incident while driving. Their licence was medically revoked.
RCMP say while they understand how the incident posed potential danger and concern to drivers on the highway at the time, there was no criminality.
