Newfoundland Transshipment Limited says all operations at its Whiffen Head facility in Placentia Bay have been suspended pending the completion of a safety inspection and damage assessment after a tanker struck the wharf on Wednesday.
President Paul Durdle says there where no injuries, and no product was spilled as a result of the collision.
An investigation into the cause of the incident is currently underway.
Transport Canada has also been notified and will be conducting an investigation to determine whether the vessel involved complies with regulations under the Canada Shipping Act.
