US President Donald Trump confirmed today that tariffs are coming against Canada. The president, who has been threatening tariffs against Canada, Mexico and China says tariffs are coming on things like semiconductor chips, oil and gas.
The United States is imposing 25 per cent tariffs on Canada and Mexico, but his tariff on Canadian oil is dropping to 10 per cent.
The oil tariffs are expected to come into effect on February 18.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has promised to act swiftly if threatened tariffs are imposed.
More tariffs are expected next month says Trump on steel and aluminum as well as copper.
He also referenced pharmaceuticals, but wouldn’t provide more specifics.
Trump says a full list of affected products will be made public tomorrow.
