People turned to Nova Scotia’s best-known prognosticator to see if Shubenacadie Sam would see its shadow.
Old Folk tales believe if the rodent sees its shadow, it will retreat into its burrow, commanding six more weeks of winter. Without a shadow, spring is just around the corner.
Dozens gathered around Shubenacadie Wildlife Park to await the decision, which determined Shubenacadie Sam saw it’s shadow, meaning six more weeks of winter.
Ontario’s Wiarton Willie, Quebec’s Fred la Marmotte, as well as other furry pundits are expected to make their prediction later today.
