Many Newfoundlanders and Labradorians book trips to Florida in the winter and early spring to escape the miserable weather, but at least one local family has decided to cancel it all in light of the recent dispute between the US and Canada.
Michelle Porter of CBS had her entire trip to Florida booked to take her children and grandchildren to Disney.
She’s travelled to Florida before and included a full itinerary of activities and accommodations. It was a “whole process” she says, but when the tariff situation started to heat up, she took action.
“I’m not putting my money there,” says Porter, “and I cancelled everything.” She says not only is she taking a stand, but she questioned “what kind energy are we going to get when we get there?”
