The annual raft of snowclearing complaints have been received loud and clear by St. John’s city councillors.
But they’re pleading for patience and understanding with what staff are up against.
They note 40-plus centimeters can take longer to clear than your average 5 to 10-centimetre snowfall.
Councillor Sandy Hickman suggested finding other ways to get around in the interim.
“Definitely, people have to be patient, take their time, and really if they can find alternative ways of moving around for the next few days, that might be a wise way of going,” he said. “But our crowd, our staff, will do a great job of snow removal downtown, but it does take time, especially when there’s this much snow.”
Councillor Maggie Burton, meanwhile, urged residents to review the map of priority streets and sidewalks on the city’s website.
