Among those who are closely watching rising tensions between Canada and the United States is the St. John’s International Airport Authority.
CEO Dennis Hogan says a growing aversion to US travel could mean a boon in domestic demand.
Hogan has been in regular contact with airlines on a variety of issues but says it may be a little too early to determine how or whether airlines respond to changing travel demand.
“You may see more domestic travel if people decide that they’re not going to vacation or visit the U.S. in the same numbers that would do so in a typical year, but we are monitoring that situation very closely and ideally it will all get resolved in the coming weeks and months,” he said.
