This is a “red letter” day in the small Trinity Bay town of Heart’s Content.

Alice Cumby, the town clerk, was hired March 1, 1968 and is seen as a pillar in the community. Today is her last day on the job after 57 years.

Councillor Tolson Rendell says there isn’t much in the way of community causes and activities that Cumby has not been involved in.

There’s a dance Saturday night starting at about 9:00 to mark the occasion.
