While many businesses will be hoping to pack the pubs with people this St. Patrick’s Day weekend, VOCM and the Newfoundland Embassy are hoping to pack the pub with donations of non-perishable food items.

VOCM will be at the Embassy on Sunday from 12-4 p.m. for the Pack the Pub event, collecting both monetary and food donations in support of the Community Food Sharing Association.

During the winter months, shelves tend to look a little bare for the association which distributes items to several local food banks.

That’s why events like Pack the Pub are important, says food sharing association general manager Tina Bishop.

She says they are in need of a number of staples most people have in their cupboards including canned goods such as soup, beans, tuna and juice, just to name a few.

Monetary donations are also being accepted at the Embassy on Sunday or online.
