TechNL says its Find Your Future in Tech program has been a massive success.
The initiative, which was first announced two years ago, raises awareness of careers in the tech sector, provides training opportunities for people, provides support for employers, and works on removing systemic barriers for equity priority groups.
The federal government gave over $32-million to TechNL for the initiative.
Past chair of TechNL, and current PolyUnity CEO, Jacqueline Lee, says the program is the largest they have ever undertaken, and it “blew all the success metrics out of the water,” including on equity priority groups.
She says 63 per cent of participants identified as being part of that group – including women, persons with disabilities, new Canadians, and people who are Indigenous.
