Memorial University has sent out acceptance letters to the first group of students that will be learning at the Faculty of Medicine’s new regional campus on Prince Edward Island.
The four-year Doctor of Medicine Program will be offered at a new facility being built by UPEI, and will include both in-class learning and clinical work.
Students in PEI will complete their work along with 90 classmates in St. John’s via interactive technology.
Dr. Dolores McKeen, the dean of medicine, says MUN has a “longstanding relationship with PEI” with four students from that province being admitted to the doctor of medicine program annually, and calls the regional campus a “major step forward” in expanding access and addressing needs in the region.
