There’s been another polar bear sighting in the province, this time in Coachman’s Cove on the Baie Verte Peninsula.
Last week a polar bear was spotted near West Saint Modeste in the Labrador Straits.
Baie Verte RCMP are asking the public to keep pets indoors, and not to leave residential garbage outside.
Provincial conservation officers have been called.

The department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture is offering a number of important tips if you should have a close encounter with a polar bear;
If a bear does not see you:
- Quietly back away and leave the area and try to stay downwind of the animal.
- Never get between a bear and its cubs.
If a bear has seen or smelled you:
- Remain calm and give the bear space and a route to get away.
- Back away but do not run.
- If you must speak, do so calmly and firmly and avoid direct eye contact with the bear.
