The Association for New Canadians held a mock election this morning for newcomers to become more familiarized with the democratic process in this country.
For some new Canadians, it’s the first time they’ve taken part in an election. For others, it’s their first taste of the democratic process in Canada.
Russian newcomer Mariia Golitsyna has voted before in her home country, and while the process is very similar, there is one glaring difference.
She says the process is the same, but the result is not the same. “I’m from Russia, in my country, (the) election (is) predicable.”
