Crews across the province are fighting a number of forest fires at this hour.
Dry conditions to start out the week have made the forest vulnerable to fires and have created a busy afternoon for firefighters.
#GovNL is closely monitoring four wildfires in the province:

Here’s what we know:
Crews Battling Fire in Adams Cove
Firefighters from as far as Harbour Grace are battling a large fire in the area at this hour.
Two waterbombers are patrolling the scene, which is unknown in size ahead of the 6 p.m. hour Wednesday.
Multiple roads are closed, with a evening update from the RCMP reminding motorists that Route 70 from Adams Cove to Western Bay is closed due to the fire.
Officials are unsure how many homes are impacted, but say it is “multiple” homes. Some social media reports suggest multiple homes, including the boardwalk in Western Bay have been destroyed.
Callers to the VOCM Newsroom described the fire as a “raging blaze.”
Power has been shut off to hundreds while officials work to assess the damage.
Pictures posted to social media show a significant amount of smoke coming from a wooded area at the top of the hill in the town.
VOCM News will have more information as it becomes available.
Badger Under Control
A forest fire near Badger is now 25 per cent contained, but crews remain on the scene tackling the hot spots.
The fire first broke out early this afternoon near Catamaran Park.
Fire duty officer Jeff Motty says the good news is that the fire is not out of control.
He says winds are calm, there is no threat to any structures and the waterbomber is returning to base.
Fire Near Fermeuse
Motty says his crews are receiving calls about a fire near Kingman’s Cove in Fermeuse.
The fire is reportedly above the wreck of the SS Ilex.
Officials say at least one cabin was affected by the fire.
⚠️The forest fire hazard rating is currently HIGH and VERY HIGH in areas of western central and eastern Newfoundland today (Wed, May 7). Please use caution.⚠️

A waterbomber was trying to control the fire through the afternoon, but officials spent the supper hour trying to control the fire.
It’s believed the fire is about 6 hectares in size.
There is no word yet on whether any homes were evacuated from that fire.
No Concern to Residents in Holyrood
Smoke can be seen from the Trans-Canada Highway near Foxtrap and Butter Pot Park, with yet another fire burning in Holyrood.
The fire appears to be burning between Witless Bay Line and Holyrood.
According to the Holyrood Fire Department, there is no risk to local residents, and crews are on the scene.
They say crews are working to combat the fire.
