Net earnings at Fortis are up in the first quarter of the year. They went from $459-million in 2024 to $499-million this year, earning $1.00 per common share, up from $0.93.
David Hutchens, President and CEO of Fortis, says they are off to a great start. The increase in earnings is being attributed to rate base growth across their utilities.
The higher U.S. dollar to Canadian dollar exchange rate also factored in favourably.
