A teenager has been charged after trying to burn a student with fire at a school in the metro area yesterday.

Police were called to the school around the lunch hour after the young person ignited a flame and attempted to hurt a fellow schoolmate.

The teen was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon. They were later released on several conditions.
