Paralympic swimmer Katarina Roxon is reflecting on her career and advocacy ahead of receiving an honourary doctorate from Memorial University later this month.
Roxon, a Kippens native, has competed in five paralympic games, most recently participating in Paris last summer.
She says she is excited about receiving an honourary doctorate from MUN, and she is still in “shock” over receiving the news.
Roxon says receiving such recognition was never the purpose behind her swimming or disability advocacy.
“I just did it, everything else was just a bonus” says Roxon, who admits that she is honoured by the accolade.
