The House of Assembly reopens today for its spring sitting.
It comes with new faces, a new Premier—John Hogan—and a budget to pass.
When asked about the priorities for the upcoming session, Hogan wasted no time saying that he would be focusing on the budget.
He’ll have to do it with a shortened bench, with Andrew Parsons out as an MHA, and Andrew Furey seemingly opting out of a cabinet portfolio.
Hogan made some significant changes to cabinet on Friday, including John Haggie taking on the role of justice minister and Krista Lynn Howell shifting to health.
Two backbenchers will find their way forward, with Jamie Korab taking on the role of minister of families and affordability and minister responsible for the status of persons with disabilities, and Sherry Gambin-Walsh as the new women and gender equality minister.
While passing the budget remains a priority of Hogan and the Liberals, increased calls for support for those with disabilities and seniors have begun to dominate some headlines in recent weeks.
