A 24-year-old Valleyfield man has been arrested and charged after he was caught driving a vehicle, which was fit for the scrapyard, in a dangerous manner.
New-Wes-Valley RCMP first received a report of a dangerous driver in Centreville just after 10 a.m. on Saturday.
The Chevy Impala was later located along the main road.
Police tried to pull the car over, but it drove away in a dangerous manner and, as a result, it was not pursued.
A short time later the vehicle was located on a dirt road. The driver once again did not stop but, because of damage sustained while driving—including damage to two tires and the back bumper, the vehicle eventually came to a stop and was inoperable.
The vehicle was found to be unregistered, and had a status with Motor Vehicle Registration of being scrapped or unroadworthy.
Police discovered that the driver had a suspended licence, and the attached licence plate belonged to another vehicle.
On top of that, police say the man was possession of a small amount of methamphetamine.
The accused will appear in court in July to answer to charges of dangerous operation, flight from police, and possession of a controlled substance. A number of other charges under the Highway Traffic Act are also anticipated.
