A private member’s motion calling on government to reduce the cost of travel to, from and within Labrador received unanimous support in the House of Assembly this week.
The province was criticized after Labrador was left out of a new seasonal service route connecting St. John’s, Gander and Deer Lake.
The motion, introduced by Labrador West MHA Jordan Brown, says Labradorians are put at a disadvantage, indicating that they face economic hardship based on their geography.
Brown says it costs $1,800 or more just to fly to the island from Labrador, with limited options to get back and forth.
