It appears as though the airport in Stephenville is no longer operational.
Newfoundland Power shut off power to the facility yesterday, essentially closing the operation down.
The disconnection notice was issued last week.
Transport Canada downgraded the beleaguered facility to an aerodrome in March.
Stephenville airport’s fortunes have been on the downslide for years, but accelerated after it was sold for $1 dollar to Carl Dymond in 2023 who announced lofty plans for the airport which never came to fruition.
This week, a Cape Breton-based aviation management company expressed interest in the facility, news that was welcomed by the local town council which is hopeful the airport can be saved in some capacity.
