Cowan Heights Elementary has received a $50,000 grant to go towards purchasing new books for the school.
The Indigo Love of Reading Foundation Grant was given to the school to help it encourage reading and literacy skills.
The school had applied for the grant under the theme of “stories for a strong future”.
Reading specialist Kimberly Phillips says the theme highlights the importance of fostering good literacy skills.
She says she loves that reading takes people to far away places, opens peoples minds, and helps people learn.
