The fire ban in the St. John’s region will remain in place for the time being.
The St. John’s Regional Fire Department says the ban will remain in place until tomorrow.
The ban includes the use of backyard firepits, chimineas, charcoal barbecues, and open fires.
Propane firepits and barbecues are allowed.
The fire hazard index for most of the province is in the high to very high range, and extreme from the Clarenville area through to central Newfoundland.
The fire hazard is low to moderate in Labrador.
