Summer-like temperatures are in the forecast for most of the island today.
The mercury will reach into the mid-to high twenties across the island.
Environment Canada meteorologist David Neil says welcome warm temperatures will stick around for the next day or so.
“Warm southwest winds will bring some nice, mild temperatures to much of the island for the last part of the work week.”
Meanwhile, satellite imagery shows that smoke from the massive wildfires in Saskatchewan and Manitoba is moving into the region.
Neil says the smoke should remain high in the atmosphere and is not expected to have an effect on air quality.
He says right now, the smoke is resulting in air quality statements for western Quebec and northern Ontario, but nothing in the Labrador region for now. He says some of their modeling is showing high smoke concentrations in parts of Labrador once the current low pressure system moves through. It’s something Environment Canada is keeping an eye on.
