A sod-turning ceremony is taking place tomorrow at Cowan Heights United Church as they prepare to build a new community park in honour of the United Church of Canada’s 100th anniversary.
The park, called Deeply Rooted, is described as a 30-by-30 foot reflective “pocket park.”
It will feature a walkway lined with fuir-bearing trees and berry-producing shrubs, picnic tables, benches, and shaded areas.
There will also be plaques detailing some of the history of the united church over the last century.
Members of the United Church’s national office will be in attendance, as well as municipal, provincial, and federal representatives.
The event is taking place at 10:30 tomorrow morning at Cowan Heights United church.
